RELEASE NOTE for Nokia Series 40 Theme Studio 1.2 (21 Apr 2005)
================================================================

Product Description:
====================
Nokia Series 40 Theme Studio is a PC based tool for creating User
Interface themes for compatible Series 40 handsets. Theme developers
can create, view, compare and save themes. The created theme packages
can be downloaded to compatible handsets using methods supported
by both the handsets and the PC (Bluetooth, IrDa, Cable) or over the
air (OTA).

Features:
=========
- Compose one or more theme package(s) specifying color scheme, ringtone,
  wallpaper, screensaver, background, menu icons, mini screen elements, etc.
- Preview the theme on representative handset simulations.
- Load and Edit a previously created theme package.
- Compare themes to assess effectiveness on different screen sizes.
- This version of the product (1.2) comes with in-built plug-ins for
  simulating themes on representative simulations of handsets of different
  screen sizes (phone model in brackets as example of such phone):
  128x128 (Nokia 3220), 128x160 (Nokia 6101),
  208x104 (Nokia 7280), 208x208 (Nokia 6230i).

System Requirements:
====================
Basic Requirements:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 SP 4 (Latin or Chinese) or
  Microsoft Windows XP SP 2 (Latin or Chinese)
- 667 MHz Pentium processor or faster
- 256 MB RAM minimum, 512 MB RAM recommended
- 125 MB disk space
- Display 1024 x 768 pixels or more
- 16 bit color per pixel or more

Known Issues: (None of these issues impact the actual theme creation)
=============
- Background images smaller than the main screen size are not scaling up
  to fit the screen in the theme studio as it is done on the actual handset.

  Workaround: Verify such background image on the actual handsets or SDK,
              or manually scale the image up to verify how it would look
              on the handset.

- Scaling of image in the main screensaver screen simulation for Nokia 3220,
  7280 may not accurately represent the actual handsets. When screen saver
  image is bigger than the screen, the image is scaled to the closest
  dimension that fits and the other dimension is cropped on both sides.

  Workaround: Try these screensavers on the actual handset. On these handsets,
              the screensaver images scale down enough, so that there is no
              cropping.

- Miniscreen background images are not scaling to fit (up or down) as it does
  on the actual handsets.

  Workaround: Verify such images on the handsets or SDK (example: Battery
              charging screen and volume adjust screen).

- Image animations on various screen and icon simulations happen only for few
  seconds in Theme Studio.

  Workaround: Try out on handsets to see complete animation.

- If animated GIF image with 0 frame display time is set as background,
  then that may cause slow performance (100% CPU consumption).

  Workaround: Verify such background image on the actual handsets or SDK.
              Images are not animated as background on actual handsets.

- If M3G image is set as menu icon image, then in the "Main Menu" screen (list
  or grid view), the border of the M3G images are opaque instead of transparent;
  In other words, a white border is shown around the image, unlike the actual
  handset. As a result the background image maybe obscured a bit.

  Workaround: Verify such menu icon image on the actual handsets or SDK.

- In Grid view of Nokia 6230i simulation, default menu icon images (M3G image)
  are not animated.

  Workaround: Verify such image in List View or on the handsets/SDK.

- Notification screen simulations in Theme Studio do not show dimmed wallpaper
  or background images unlike the actual handsets.

  Workaround: Verify notification screens on the actual handsets.

- The style/size of the text fonts and the size/opaqueness of the indicator
  icons (message, voicemail, etc) do not accurately simulate certain handsets.

  workaround: Verify such fonts and indicator icons on the handsets. If this
              affects the visualization of your wallpaper, try the wallpaper
              on the actual handsets.

- In the mini idle screen simulation for Nokia 6101 handsets, Theme Studio
  does not show the operator logo, clock and other indicators; only signal
  and battery bars are shown.

  Workaround: Verify the impact of indicators and logos on the wallpaper by
              testing out the wallpaper on the mini screen of the actual
              handsets.
