It's important to disable ALL antivirus/firewall programs before doing
this! Reboot your system so that you have NO other programs running.
First, open ActiveSync on your computer and perform a sync so that all
numbers and addresses are transferred onto your computer since you will
LOSE EVERYTHING from the phone when you perform this upgrade. Now, in
ActiveSync, go to File -> Connection Settings -> Allow USB Connetion
with this desktop computer (UNcheck this), and click "OK".

Now, the February upgrade is in RAR format - this is very similar to ZIP
format. Once you have downloaded the entire RAR file, you need a
program called WinRAR to "unzip" the file. You can download that
program here: http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar342.exe

Once you have WinRAR installed on your system, double click on the
February upgrade RAR file. This will open the WinRAR program. Click
the "extract to" button and place all files and folders into a new
folder named something like "MPX".

Once all files and folders have been extracted into that directory,
double click on the flash.exe program (version 0.03) from the list of
files. Use each of the three "browse" buttons to load the TXT file for
each program. For example, check the box next to "bootloader", then
click "browse" and double click on EBoot.txt file in the Bootloader
folder. Check the button next to GSM, and find the GSM.txt file in the
GSM944c18 folder. Click the button next to OS, and find the OS.txt file
in the OS_2....... folder. When you have found all three text files,
press "start". Are you sure? DO NOT PRESS YES YET.

On your phone, HOLD the blue "ALT" key, and press the reset button on
the side of the phone with your stylus and let go - you do not need to
hold on the reset button with the stylus. DO NOT LET GO OF THE ALT KEY
YET. You will be taken to the EBoot menu. You can now release the ALT
key.

Press the blue circular direction button on #1 - USB downloadimage.

At this time, plug the USB cable into the phone, and then into the
computer. Now press "YES" on the computer.

You will see many status bars go across your phone, as well as on the
computer. DO NOT unplug the USB cable, or REBOOT your phone until this
process is complete. This may take up to 30 minutes. BE PATIENT. The
phone will reboot at least once. When it is finished, you will know
since it will ask you to tap the screen to begin. If this process fails
or you are waiting at a menu bar for over 30 minutes, unplug the cable
from the computer and start this process over again. You now have the
latest firmware on your phone.
